Infant Holy

SAAA + piano - 4 minutes - easy difficulty

Your treble choir will enjoy this setting of one of my favorite carols. The piano accompaniment creates an air of mystery and culminates in a lush swell that sweeps the singers in a dramatic way. The impetus for this arrangement was the power that can be found in the lowliest of places.

Traditional Polish carol

Infant holy, infant lowly,
for his bed a cattle stall;
oxen lowing, little knowing
Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Swift are winging angels singing,
noels ringing, tidings bringing;
Christ the babe is Lord of all,
Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping
vigil til the morning new;
saw the glory, heard the story,
tidings of a gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow,
prasies voicing, greet the morrow!
Christ the babe was born for you,
Christ the babe was born for you.
