Stabat Mater Dolorosa

The Stabat Mater text depicts the agony and tribulation of a mother at the foot of her murdered son. My setting is a meditation on that darkness, that gives hints of hope and transformation by the end. The mystery of this text is the same mystery of the Christian faith: life-giving mercy is the response to life-ending violence.
